One of Frankie Owens’ earliest memories is sneaking behind the bar to steal fresh ham cobs and cans of pop whilst her dad pulled pints for the crowds piling in on match day from Villa Park, next door to the pub he owned.

Those were her first lessons in the art and science of hospitality. As soon as she could, she went to work herself, pulling pints, waiting tables, making guests smile and putting the world to rights with the regulars.

In 2018 she started to think about doing her own thing. She knew that a pub was more than just bricks and booze. You needed good food, good drinks, good design and good people. You also needed to be part of the community and give people new and exciting reasons to come through your door. Miss one of those things and the magic is lost. But, get it right and you can create something worthwhile.

In September 2018, Frankie created the Good Host Group Ltd alongside her brothers. She then opened The Tardebigge pub in 2019 with her second pub, The Winged Spur, opening in 2023 after extensive refurbishment.

A Good Host Group pub is full of eccentric British charm with worldly sensibilities. We create unique, welcoming and charming spaces. Perfect for first dates and five-hundredth dates.
